Q: Will you get a credit report on me if I apply for a job and, if so, how do you use it; how much does it count?

A: We do pull credit reports on external and internal candidates who are seen as particularly viable. We also check public records and the Federal Reserve Board’s list of enforcement actions, as well as verifying prior jobs, employment and speaking with references.  We consider the credit report important because issues indicated by a credit report can be risk factors in hiring for a bank.  Your rights with regard to the use of your credit report are protected by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, a federal law with which we are in full compliance.
